POLYJET PHOTOPOLYMERS
VeroUltraClear has exceptional clarity and has strength, stiffness and impact resistance.
Layer Height: 0.00055 in. (14 microns), 0.001 in. (27 microns)
86% light transmission through a 6mm thick sample.
VeroUltraClear has a higher level of clarity and transparency and a lower yellow index than standard VeroClear. Thermal properties are similar but mechanical properties are somewhat lower than VeroClear.
Typical applications include concept models and prototypes for eyewear, lighting components, and the replication of glass and clear polymers.
Other uses include modeling clear tubes and housings for pumps and gearboxes to view fluid flow and internal mechanisms.
In 2020, an invasive species of lanternfly, the Spotted Lanternfly, threatened the Northeastern United States.
Hudson Valley Additive Manufacturing Center (HVAMC), located in upstate New York, has been a 3D printing resource for both the university and surrounding communities since 2014. Jim O’Connell, a senior resource educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension, approached HVAMC to have a highly realistic model of the bug made.
Prior to 3D printing the lanternfly, education models were limited to posters. These posters only showed one angle of insect. Preserving the insect was costly and time consuming, as the specimens were very delicate. HVAMC printed 3D models of the spotted Lanternfly with PolyJet technology, The resolution and color capabilities of PolyJet meant that the models were life-size and highly accurate.
The detailed replica was encased in the incredibly transparent VeroUltraClear, allowing the models to be handled and transported easily.
This is only one case where VeroUltraClear helped a company develop a model. There are unlimited possibilities with a material so versatile. To learn more about the 3D printing material options for your project, contact our team.
At Purple Porcupine, you can depend on our 3D printing & rapid prototyping service to be exceptional, and our 3D printed models to hold tight tolerances with premium finishes. We use only the best of rapid prototyping technologies that will provide optimal solutions to change the way you design and create products.
